The History of SpectraOur association of Independent Special Education Schools of Ontario (ISESO) first tentatively met back on November 8th, 2005, and has never looked back. Since that time, we’ve supported on another by sharing policies, procedures and programming, by offering discounted certifications in First Aid/CPR and crisis prevention training, by designing professional development opportunities for administrators, and by our association’s own website. We came to realize that we’re not alone. As independent school administrators, educational consultants, magazine publishers, school fair operators, graphic designers, and uniform manufacturers, among many others, we all work together towards one goal – specialized education: the recognition that each child must be uniquely valued according to his or her individual needs. Hence we changed our name to ... Spectra... a constant reminder to us that all of our children are not just homogeneous ‘white light’, but rather a spectra of brilliant colour. |
